First Nation campaigns over many years have led to a Hobart City Council planning committee vote in favour of the removal of statue of William Crowther, Tasmanian Premier from 1878–1879. Crowther, who was a surgeon as well as a politician, cut off and stole the skull of William Lane, replacing the Aboriginal man’s head with another from a different corpse.
