Aboriginal Embassy activist, Adrian Charles Davis, 63, has appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on a charge that he refused to leave the disused Lobby restaurant, near the iconic Embassy protest site, when asked to do so by police. The incident took place following the controversial occupation of the former restaurant building by land rights supporters over the weekend of 4 and 5 November 2017.
Davis was arrested on 9 November after Ngunnawal elders and Aboriginal rights campaigners, who had been attending a national meeting at the Embassy over the weekend, allegedly occupied the former restaurant in an attempt to reclaim sovereign Ngunnawal land. A hearing has been set down for 14 May 2018.
